The Homosexual/gay marriage agenda has a new champion: Bill O’Reilly

Excerpt from an article written by Amanda Marcotte, posted on the Vine concerning comments made by Bill O’Reilly concerning gay marriage:

The sniping and smearing finally got to O’Reilly. Last night, he invited fellow talker Laura Ingraham onto his show to hash it out. “When you say you can’t cite the Bible,” she told him, “that’s disrespectful to people who really try to live their lives according to the Bible.” O’Reilly replied that it’s fine to live your life that way—you just can’t cite Scripture to settle policy disputes. Ingraham asked O’Reilly why he had used the word “thump.” He answered that he classifies people as Bible thumpers when “all they do is say, ‘I object to gay marriage because God objects to it.’ ”

I have always liked Bill O’Reilly; he always had a knack for common sense in a non-common sense age. O’Reilly would tackle the toughest issues, would take on any comers and had little patience for baloney. Was Bill O’Reilly perfect? Of course not, but his “No Spin Zone” kind of attitude was liked by many including me.

Now it seems however that the creator of the “No Spin Zone” has indeed stepped outside of said zone into the world’s domain…”Spin It How You See It Zone”. The world any many of its residents are fond of truth, provided that truth lines up with their views anyway. I hate to break it to you, but this is not truth at all!

So Mr. O’Reilly was discussing gay marriage on his show. Here is another comment in reference to Bible believing people:

The compelling argument is on the side of homosexuals: … ‘We’re Americans. We just want to be treated like everybody else.’ That’s a compelling argument. And to deny that, you’ve got to have a very strong argument on the other side. And the other side hasn’t been able to do anything but thump the Bible.

That statement is so ridiculously ludicrous I’m not even sure how to address it. Ok, so homosexuals want to be treated like everyone else, that is fine to a point. But to take this kind of logic, then we could apply that to all people and their subgroups. What about those who have killed? Pedophiles? C’mon O’Reilly, really?

I’m all for treating homosexuals with decency, God tells us to treat all people well…”love your neighbor as yourself”. That in no way means that I have to condone an immoral and unbiblical mode of behavior or action. Where are your morals O’Reilly?

Bill O’Reilly has moved over into the camp of the homosexuals and supports them, how sad. Another American icon that supports a clearly wrong attitude and action, gay marriage.

I have news for you O’Reilly; the Bible precedes and overrules the regulations of man. This very nation was founded on Godly principles remember? Not that one would know it now by the way this country conducts itself.

This is another in a long line of people who deny the existence of Truth, God Himself. There has to be a source for truth, it did not make itself up, and the source for Truth is God. What is truth anyway? If truth is only made up of what each person believes then it really is not truth at all. There has to be a defining source for that truth independent of man, because man will just make the truth suit himself.

We all recognize some truths:

We should not kill
We should not lie to each other, people do not like it
We should be faithful to our spouse, unfaithfulness ruins a marriage
We should not cheat, people do not respond well to being cheated

Just these few items above most people in any given country on earth will agree on, in fact these are part of the “rules” of most societies. Isn’t it ironic that people and nations that espouse anti-God philosophies follow these rules that came from God?

Bill O’Reilly joins people such as our very own President Obama in supporting the homosexual agenda. This does not at all surprise me, but I am very disappointed in these people. This shift in thinking was foretold in the Word. Lets look at a verse:

2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

Some would say this has nothing to do with Bill O’Reilly’s comments, I contend that these 2 verses have everything to do with his comments and all others who espouse philosophies that go against God.

What is the sound doctrine here? God said in Leviticus 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. That is pretty clear I think, but apparently O’Reilly thinks otherwise, apparently his wisdom is greater than God’s wisdom.

Where is the fable? The fable is that homosexual marriage is ok; it is just a way for these so called “couples” to receive the same rights as a heterosexual couple receives. Homosexual marriage does no harm; it is just two people who love one another in a relationship. This is the fable, and this is all so wrong I would have to write a book about it to properly address it.

I find O’Reilly’s comments offensive, and even more importantly, they are an offense to God. How foolish O’Reilly and all others are that support what God decreed to be right and proper as wrong. What other reason than “God said so” do you need?

As far as this writer is concerned, O’Reilly shows his true colors with his foolish statements. His statements are a denial of the Truth and Authority of Christ, and furthermore will lead people astray.

Shame on you O’Reilly for supporting the downfall of this country.

  1. Go back and revisit your impression of O’Reilly with a more detached perspective. I had the same initital reaction when I first began watching his program on FNC, especially since at the time he and other FNC hosts were sometimes inviting representatives of the Christian point of view, like from the Concerned Women of America.

But when he discussed same-sex marriage finally, he criticized its advocates, not for any real reasons but because they were using the courts and procedure tricks and media to force it into law against the majority.

Note that to my knowledge, he hasn’t even invited Dennis Prager to his program, because Prager offers a very convincing case for the nuclear natural family and for why same-sex marriage is harmful to the society at large, meaning individuals in that society.

He hasn’t invited Ravi Zacarias, who makes spinsters dizzy with cogent references to arguments that make the case.

O’Reilly claimed the Gospels contradict each other, something that is on its face false and only comes from an ignorance of the subject. He has not studied them very much, obviously.

So there is plenty of spin there…

    • First of all, when I reference O’Reilly’s “no spin zone” it was in reference to his willingness to bring people on the show from both sides of any issue. It is also in reference to the fact that he was willing to dive into any issue no holds barred. I respected that.

I did not say anything about his personal views, nor did I always agree with him, I still respected his journalistic approach however.

Now he comes along and says we who believe in Jesus are wrong to say gay marriage is wrong “simply because the Bible says so”. He might as well say the Bible was only written by men and is not relevant for living life while he is at it.

So, I would not give him the time of day anymore.

      God bless
      Greg
