Ha ha I love speaking in tongues when I do I know I am being obedient and praying what God wants me to pray. I have had this gift for a long time now …I am truly blessed!
I first started speaking in tongues soon after I became filled or baptised in the Spirit. I remember sitting in a church meeting and being unable to remain seated. I was being urged by The Holy Spirit to speak out to the congregation and my will to remain seated was completely taken over so I stood eyes closed, arms reaching skyward and my mouth started uttering words beyond my comprehension. I continued in a loud voice for over twenty minutes. The congregation was completely silent and when I had finished I sat down. A few seconds later someone in the gathering stood and spoke a message in English. He had given the interpretation. After that experience God used me to speak out in tongues more and more but only occasionally as He required. I remember being at a house gathering of around twenty people. It was a farewell and thanksgiving gathering to celebrate the life of two Christians, man and wife, who were moving home to a place many miles away. During our praise and worship we gathered in a circle and each prayed out to God as they were led. Suddenly we found ourselves all singing in tongues. It was the most glorious of sounds, you might say heavenly for that is what it was. I had not experienced singing in tongues before and certainly not by twenty or so people all singing in harmony. It has been a long time since I spoke in tongues but now and then I am led to do so in my prayer time.
