History–Elijah the Prophet–and the Prophet Is Still Hated! Yes, Even In His Own Country.

Throughout time, both godless people and God‘s people alike have sought out to kill the prophets, not liking their message of repentance.  Examples of this are Elijah, John the Baptist, almost all of the disciples and apostles, and Jesus Himself, who was put to death by the Jewish higher-ups.  Unfortunately, today, God’s true prophets are still hated, disliked, and ridiculed by Christians and non-Christians alike.  For instance, I receive many private and public comments that what I do is wrong and this is not the way, according to the Bible.  I am quick to correct people, telling them that we all have our callings, and mine, just as in situations recorded in the Bible itself, is an unpopular one.

This is why I’m going to tell you a little bit about the great prophet, Elijah, and his place in the Bible.

Elijah’s ministry took place in the ninth century, B.C.  He lived and worked in Israel during King Ahab‘s reign.  He was sent by God to judge the king and his pagan wife Jezebel for worshiping Baal and killing God‘s prophets.  God sent a drought, and Elijah had to go into hiding for his own safety.  God provided him with food from the  mouth of ravens, and later from the hands of a widow–whose dead son was brought back to life by Elijah’s prayer of faith.

In the third year of the drought, Elijah confronted Ahab and they agreed to a showdown at Mt. Carmel between the prophets of Baal and Elijah’s God.  Baal and his cohorts failed miserably, Elijah and the God of Israel won the contest, the priests of Baal were killed, and the drought ended that day.  God protected Elijah in further dealings with the rebellious Jezebel and Ahab, and the prophet continued to warn and confront them about their wanton sins.

Before his work was finished, Elijah prepared Elisha to continue his work, and the prophet witnessed the death of the dreadful Ahab.  After this, God took Elijah to heaven in a chariot of fire, and his prophet’s mantle fell on Elisha’s shoulders. (1 Kings 17:1)

Are you worshiping a Baal?  Is there anything in your life that you’re doing that, as a Christian, you should  not be doing?  Has God told you  not to do it, yet you are disobeying His command?

Furthermore, are you killing the prophet?  Do you truly know the mind of God, and who He does and does not call?  If a person is spreading false doctrine, then we know this is not a prophet of God; rather, a worker of iniquity.   However, if the message being taught flows in accordance with God’s Word, how dare you tell a Christian brother or sister what to do and  how to do it!  You, my friend, are bold and are placing yourself above God almighty!  I do not want to be in your shoes, or lack thereof, when you kneel before God to give account for your doings on this earth.  I have been confronted by some of the godliest people, told my work is wrong.  Who are you to judge my work?  I preach no false doctrine.  You just don’t like my message because my message brings conviction.

Without conviction, there is no repentance. The watered-down love message of today  makes sin okay.  This is the way Satan wants it in order to keep those called by God from doing their work and to keep it from being received in order that people will go to  hell!  Sin is not okay.  We all sin, but let’s be honest and real about it…God wants our honesty–it is sin–and God hates sin, although He loves the sinner.  Truth IS love…butt kissing is NOT love.  Sorry for the term, but it fits.  I’m not a butt kisser or an ear tickler..I’m a truth teller.   Many people hate  me and criticize me.  Too bad.  I kneel before God, not man.  I kiss the feet of God, not the backside of man.  Who and what are you kissing?  Or better, from whose table are you eating?

There will be a price to pay for our unrepentant sins.  When we turn away from sin, God is faithful and just to forgive us.  But He will NOT forgive us IF we DON’T repent!  Here is the formula for true repentance; it’s quite simple:  conviction+admittance (to God and to those you’ve sinned against)+apology+cease the sin=forgiveness.  This is NOT the formula for repentance:  walk around with your head in the clouds+pray about it and forget about it+don’t tell the truth to anyone, you might offend+apologize while you’re still doing it+continue in it, believing Jesus died on the cross to make it okay for you to sin.

The Lord is coming soon.  Why take the chance?  Repent today!  True salvation, unfortunately, involves repentance.  True salvation is not a ticket to ride the same bus as the world, and still go to heaven.  I’m sorry if this offends, but I aim to please God, not you.  I love you, and I care for you, and so I shall always tell you the truth.  Or is it not written?  John 8:32,  And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”   Jesus came to save the world from eternal death, and He gave to all of His children different callings.  When we mock those sent to us from God, we bite the hand that feeds and spit out the good food He has given.  Let us rejoice as one body and work together in all things.  Let’s stop killing the prophet!

Live In Sin=Follow Satan To Hell|Repent Of Sin=Follow Jesus to Heaven  Friend, it’s one way or the other, and it’s your choice.  You can persecute me for my honesty and run to those who will tickle your ears, but in the end, you will regret it.  God bless you, teach you, and keep you!

If another follower sins, warn him, and if he is sorry and stops sinning, forgive him. If he sins against you seven times in one day and says that he is sorry each time, forgive him.    Luke 17:3-4

Time is short…VERY SHORT!  Turn from sin today and be truly saved…before it is too late!  -Lyn Leahz

  1. Hi Lyn,

I appreciate what you’ve written and your taking up of this thankless task. I feel convicted as well yet I wonder how I could revisit every sin and everyone I’d offended and sinned against in order to apologise. Trust me I want to be right with God, and my biggest fear is to be a pseudo Christian.

Thanks in advance for your response.

  3. Amen! There are many as scoffers as prophesied. I think they are multiplying. Keep up the good work.

  4. Truth is bitter, but has to be told so that people will escape God’s judgement. Thanks for this piece of writing.God richly bless you and your writing pen 😉

  5. I have no problem with the truth Lyn, what you say is perfectly true.I think many Christians just do not feel guilty enough to turn away from their sins. They are losing their connection with the Lord.

    • Thank you Shirley. God bless you. Yes, the definition of judging someone has been greatly perverted. If you quote one Bible verse..you’re JUDGING! LOL The Word of God judges..not us. We can’t judge. We have no right. We sin. We can only tell the truth.

  6. AMEN!!! WELL SAID, LYN!!! We speak the TRUTH in love, with holy boldness and without compromise!

I ask our critics, “Whose side are you on?” or as Joshua said, “Choose today whom you will serve. . .”

Repent today of apathy and hypocrisy before it is too late, and the Lord will say to you, “I never knew you!”

  7. Wonder why it isn’t brought out too much that Jesus was from the bloodline of King David; and they feared he would, literally, want to be on the throne? He denounced it….that his place was with his Father in heaven (my words not his).

"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 God's call to the world! Are you ready?
