I’m referring to a donkey, and if you read this entire post, by the end you’ll understand. I make no apologies if you’re offended, except for that I’m sorry for you. I am very angered by the Christians of this world who refuse to get out of the world and start truly living in Christ! Am I perfect? No! But I at least will admit the truth and refuse to sugar coat it with a bunch of lies and loopholes! I know what I’m supposed to do…do I always do what I am supposed to do? No! But do I know and admit this? Yes! Does every Christian so boldly admit to what I’m about to say here? No. They are what I call rock candy Christians.
Do you remember the old-fashioned rock candy? Crystallized sugar candy? I see so many Christians like this; hard as a rock, and full of sugar at the same time. I will never, ever make excuses or find loopholes to make any sins I commit okay. I love you all. I will not sugar coat my love. My love is true, and real. True love tells the truth and does not lie, whether it is accepted or hated, or none of the above. If anyone hates me for this, they also hate what the Word of God says, not that I compare myself to God by any stretch of the imagination…but I am quoting from the scriptures here. If anyone hates me over this, I still love you…I dearly love you. Read on.
Aren’t we supposed to be weird, different, peculiar? Let’s see what the Bible has to say here on this.
I Peter 2:8-15
“8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
15 For so is the will of God, that with well-doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:”
Now let’s see how the dictionary defines peculiar:
peculiar
1.
strange; odd: peculiar happenings.
2.
uncommon; unusual: the peculiar hobby of stuffing and mounting bats.
3.
distinctive in nature or character from others.
4.
belonging characteristically (usually followed by to ): an expression peculiar to Canadians.
5.
belonging exclusively to some person, group, or thing: the peculiar properties of a drug.
Synonyms
1. eccentric, bizarre. See strange. 2. extraordinary, singular, exceptional. 5. individual, personal, particular, special, unique.
Antonyms (opposite of peculiar)
2, 5. common.
Let’s see what else the Bible has to say about all of this craziness:
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2
“My son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths,” Proverbs 1:15
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.” Mathew 7:13
“Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept;and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.” John 17:11-19
“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.” Romans 13:14
“Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” Titus 2:14
I could post so many more verses here, but I think I’ve placed enough to show you what I’m trying to say—we’re supposed to be different! We’re supposed to be separate from the world!
As far as keeping a stiff upper lip about the things of God to keep peace…what does Jesus say about that?
Luke 12:49-59
Jesus the Cause of Division
49 ‘I came to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!50I have a baptism with which to be baptized, and what stress I am under until it is completed!51Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division!52From now on, five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three;53they will be divided:
father against son
and son against father,
mother against daughter
and daughter against mother,
mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.’
Interpreting the Time
54 He also said to the crowds, ‘When you see a cloud rising in the west, you immediately say, “It is going to rain”; and so it happens.55And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, “There will be scorching heat”; and it happens.56You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?
He tells us to be different, and we were given examples of how we are to be through Jesus, Paul, John…and so many more. Paul was loving, yet zealous, and so was Jesus. Jesus told the truth, and He commanded us to be truthful, because the truth shall set us free. Let me ask you this, does telling the truth about our beloved Lord, just as we see different people doing in the Bible, make us arguers or judgers? I don’t think so. If we do it the way we see it in the Bible, then it can’t be wrong.
Some of the most liberal and outspoken godless people who accuse we are forcing our beliefs on them are the ones doing that to us! And we just sit back and do nothing, and say nothing, going through our daily routine as if nothing is happening at all. There are people murdering other people, there are babies being aborted as we speak. There are mothers killing their children and babies as we speak. There are people, even those who once called on Jesus, putting a gun to their head right now. There are homeless people, people going to hell as we speak who have never been told the truth! So you don’t see it in person, only on the news? Stand up now and stop sitting around saying how sad it is, but that it’s not your problem because it’s not in your little world. Because I will tell you, everything going on out there is going to come to your little world and you’re going be awakened from your slumber and not have one clue what to do with yourself!
I have found so many people who want to sit in their little box of so-called ‘peace’ and not say or do anything, some even saying God has not called them to do so. Let me tell you this—if you seriously call yourself a Christian, you are called to tell the truth! It automatically comes with the free gift of Salvation. If you aren’t sure about that, or you want to argue it, feel free to search it out in the instructional manual God gave us for our lives. Do you want to know how to walk in Jesus Christ, and get to heaven? Open up your road map; it clearly tells you how to get from here, to there. Don’t bother Googling it, you won’t find it in the world! My friends, we were all called to minister God’s word! We were all called to tell others about Him. If you’re waiting on a word from God as to whether or not you should minister to others of God’s truth (not your own loving thoughts or words..but God’s!) you’re never going to hear it because you already have. The moment you read a book called the Holy Bible, you were told. And let me tell you this…for every person I’ve walked past and didn’t tell the truth too, I will be accountable before God.
As I kneel before Him in judgment, “Lyn, did you know this man you took care of for two years went to hell?”
I look up, not sure what to say, because I know I am guilty. I swallow hard. “No Lord, I didn’t.”
He looks down at me, “Why is it you do not know?”
Again, feebly I answer, “Well, I uh, God, um, I guess I never, uh, asked…”
Will some people we minister the truth to still go to hell? Absolutely. But, you will not be held partly accountable for the eternity of their soul.
Why are so many people so passive, so afraid, so hung up on peace and love, yet forgetting everything else God’s word has to say? Yes, the Bible tells us that nothing we do matters if we don’t have love…so we need to have love obviously…but is this the only verse in the whole Bible? I can’t tell you how many of my sisters and brothers I have come across here who use this whole “love” business to avoid the truth…to avoid the confrontation they don’t want to deal with…or to avoid being less popular with others because they might offend someone. Me, personally, I could care less who I offend. If the truth be told, I’m way more concerned about offending God than what I am people. You may hurt me in the flesh, but you can’t have my soul, praise God! Man can do whatever to beat me down, in the flesh, but my heart belongs to Jesus! I’m sorry, but I’m here to serve God, not man.
If I tell the truth and someone hates me, argues me, leaves a bitter message, know this now, I will post your comment, but I will not respond. I refuse to argue. I am speaking the truth. Need I remind you that all throughout the Bible, we are told love involves correction. Are you forgetting about this, you people who cower away from the truth because you don’t want to get up and do what you’re called to do? Go ahead, throw love in my face…it is in the Bible, as I’ve stated…but did you somehow forget about the verses on love I’ve mentioned? Do I need to post them here to prove it? I will, in just a second. Stop using this love stuff…the hippie movement used that too, and they even said Jesus was cool…did that make them godly people?
Love is not just flower fields and butterflies folks; love is also the things we don’t like. Correction, steering someone who is misguided in the right direction, telling others the truth, even if you’re too afraid to do so. Love is all of the good, wonderful things we know of, but it’s time to start looking at the book our Lord gave to us as a whole, and not just in pieces where it is convenient for your cowardice, political correctness, or lack of desire in our hearts to turn away from our lives of sin. We all sin, but let’s not live in it, and let’s do our job here and try to help our fallen brothers and sisters in Christ by telling them the truth, and let us also reach out to those who have never known Christ Jesus and start reeling them in.
Who cares if you’re not popular in the crowd anymore; who cares if you get yelled at, mocked, scorned, ridiculed, or if you suffer in some way. Jesus was beaten, spat upon, kicked, tormented, hung with nails rammed through His wrists and feet for you! Do you realize this? Stephen was stoned to death! Peter was hung upside down on a cross! Others were burned at the stake, eaten by cannibals…still, knowing that the risks were great, they all told the truth. What’s your excuse? It is your job in this short life that you live. Quit waiting around for talking mules and burning bushes, because it’s not going to happen. God has already burned enough bushes and spoken through enough jack asses to get His point across.
I am very righteously angry right now. Not because I’m better than anyone else, because many of you are probably better than I am. But I admit and know the truth! I don’t lie about it to myself or anyone else, and I don’t deny it. I don’t try and conform God’s word to my present, past, or future sins. I resign myself now. You think about this. The sand has been slipping through the hourglass for quite a while now…it’s almost finished. What’s it going to be? It seems to me that the talking Jack ass in the Old Testament had more sense than some of us Christians! Love is kindness, forgiveness, and all of those good things; but love is also telling the truth, and correction. If we do not tell the lost or the backslidden the truth, it is the same as hating them.
Proverbs 12:1 “He that loves discipline loves knowledge, and he that hates reproof is a fool.”
Proverbs 27:6 “The wounds of a friend are better than the kisses of an enemy.”
By the way, I am speaking to the people who come across this that have this problem. I am not speaking to everyone here, because to be honest, most of you feel the same way I do. I am sorry if I sound mean, I’m not trying to be; rather, I’m just attempting to blatantly tell the truth. I don’t beat around the bush, that’s not my personality. I try to be respectful and kind, and someday the people who continue on this behavior will look back and say, “She really was trying to help me!” I feel so badly for all of those souls who are tied up and tormented, in bondage to Satan. Friends, they are dependent upon us to free them from their torment! What comes out of their mouths in anger toward us is only those nasty devils who are tying them down to begin with! We need to witness, pray, and have faith! To just ignore it and say nothing, or just act loving without saying a word is wrong. Love is speaking up just as much as giving someone a hug, or feeding a hungry person. There are many forms of love depicted in the Bible. Not just wishy-washy love. Jesus wasn’t wishy-washy, and I won’t be either.
Numbers 22
1And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.
2And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. 3And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel. 4And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. 5He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me: 6Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest isblessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.
7And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak. 8And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam. 9And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee? 10And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying, 11Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out. 12And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed. 13And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you. 14And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.
15And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they. 16And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me: 17For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people. 18And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more. 19Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more. 20And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, andgo with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.
21And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.
22And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him. 23And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way. 24But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side. 25And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he smote her again. 26And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. 27And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff. 28And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times? 29And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee. 30And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I wasthine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.
31Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face. 32And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me: 33And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive. 34And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again. 35And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
36And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast. 37And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour? 38And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak. 39And Balaam went with Balak, and they came unto Kirjathhuzoth. 40And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that werewith him.
41And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.

Awesome post Lyn and so very true! Sort of reminds me of recent post on my website! Ha, Ha……..
But, seriously, I could not agree more with you! People need to wake up and start walking with the Lord.
Well, I guess we’re the talking Jack asses He has chosen to send! ROFL!!!!!!!
Sort of like Mister Ed? Remember him? Ha Ha Ha
That may be before your time. It was a T.V. show with a talking horse name Mister Ed. His owner was named Wilbur. Pretty funny show.
I am 40. But I saw all the reruns.
Oh yeah, the reruns, sure, thats what I meant.
What did you think?
Oh yeah, I remember seeing Mr. Ed. All the good clean shows of the past…what on earth has happened? I remember Rosy, the old woman who advertised the paper towels… and then there was the palmolive commercials where all you saw was a hand soaking in water with soap..then, before we knew it, you couldn’t see a toothpaste commercial without sex and partial nudity. Now you can watch nothing without sex, violence, witchcraft, homosexuality…Lord have mercy! From Mr. Ed to two and a half men.
From “Leave it to Beaver” to “Desperate Housewives”
Different world, that’s for sure!
Yeah, you can’t turn on the television with sex and violence anymore.
Not a great place for kids, in front of the TV.
Even Disney and Nick isn’t good for kids. They teach disrespect for parents and ungodly relationships.
Of course, we all know how godless Disney has become. I wonder if Walt would turn over in his grave at what it has become.
OH yeah! LOL When I was a kid, I looked up at my mama and I said, “Mommy, when I grow up, I’m going to be used of God in a great way!” She said, “Oh? Really?” A wide smile lighting her face. And then I said, “Yes ma’am. I’m going to be a talking jack ass!” ROFL Okay, that didn’t really happen!
That’s funny! Well your dreams have come true dear.
I wanted to be a talking parrot. Oh well. Have to settle for a jackass!
We always knew that we were different, right?!
Lyn, I can certainly understand your righteous anger. It is amazing how similar our thought processes are. I feel much the same way about much of the community that calls themselves, “Christians.” It’s the Baskin Robbins Christianity series I mention a few paragraphs from here.
I have been studying a course called Sharing The Gospel Without Fear. I am guilty of not sharing the Gospel with the lost. I have committed, what the author said is the, “sin of silence.” I have had plenty of opportunities to share the Gospel and, because of my fear of rejection or offending family or friends, I have kept silent. I know it is God who will save everyone. I can’t save anyone. If I take credit for saving someone, they’re not really saved (the book says that). But I am praying that God will change my heart and give me a passion for the lost.
However, I get just as aggravated and disappointed in folks who call themselves “Christians” today. In fact, I wrote a whole series about it called Baskin Robbins Christianity. I think, but what you feel about Christians and the church that you will enjoy it. I’m not planning on publishing it until the second week in September, but I think I’d like to send it to you ahead of time, if you think you’d like to read it. After reading your donkey post, I think you’ll enjoy it.
I wrote a post about a donkey a month or so ago. It was more humorous, but at the same time, hopefully makes a serious point. Here is the link: http://stevensawyer.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=3721&action=edit
I look forward to chatting with you soon, maybe tonight. I have an idea on a collaborative pro-life writing project I’d like to talk with you about to see if you’d be interested. Talk to you soon. Loved your post. To me your righteous anger is justifiable.
Thank you for the comments 🙂 The way I see it, no, we can’t save anyone, only God can..but we are His messengers..we are His feet; for what would a body do if it had no feet? The feet are the lesser parts, but oh so important. We are to always tell the truth. It doesn’t mean we are perfect or judging anyone; the world seems to think if you minister to them, you are trying to judge them or that you think you are perfect. This is a lie of the enemy. If this were the case, no one could minister to anyone because no one is perfect. They taught us in church when I was a kid, and I don’t know if it’s true or not, but just in case, I always remember it..better to be save than sorry, but they always taught us that we will be partly accountable for every person who goes to hell that we’ve had the opportunity to tell about Christ and didn’t share the good news. If we tell them and they reject it, their blood is off of our hands..we did as we were supposed to. I oftenties wonder if part of the devil’s plan on making this world such a rush rush place anymore..(nobody has time for anything anymore it seems)…was to keep people in such a rush that they didn’t have the time to stop and witness to people. God bless you and thanks again for your reply!
You are a sister I never had. Had 3 older brothers. You have been an inspirtation to me, have made me realize that I have to get a lot closer to our God and faith and I love your for that. Without you I would be the one during the rapture saying so soon with my arms reaching to the sky.
What a deep and profound statement. I am humbled. To be used by God as to even help one person to saved from torment is a great thing! And you help me, too sister! If it was not for all of you who come and support me here, of what good would this site be? I praise my God that He graciously sends people this way to be ministered to and to hear the truth! God bless you and sisterly love!
Thanks for your passion in communicating the truth.
You’re welcome, but no thanks necessary. As the Lord lays it upon my heart, I speak it. 😉
Just checked out your site…very nice! God bless you in your work you’re doing for our Father!
I find that some Christians only want to speak about God and His love and laws with fellow secure in Christ Christians, because it is easy. Many don’t want to go and tell the story because they are afraid that they will not be able to answer their questions. Therefore, they don’t take that chance to share Him.
Lyn, a much-needed word, a challenging word.
The “separation” teaching hasn’t been heard much for years. I think it started dying a slow death with the advent of TV.
Of course we are “peculiar”. Of course we are “set apart”. Of course we are saved for a purpose. Of course we are responsible and accountable to the One who saved us.
Above all, however, of course it is the greatest privilege ever known to mankind to be the adopted, blood-bought children of the living, omnipotent, creator God, and to be co-workers together with Him in continuing the work of Christ on earth. Do I bleieve it? Yes!!! Do I always ACT as thought I believe it? Sadly no – but that doesn’t alter the fact.
We serve an amazing God!
Something set me off, particularly the I am a Christian but non-chalant about my faith attitutude. I have become weary of people who profess Christianity, however, have the attitude that all we have to do in this life is love, and we’re okay. And that’s true, if you know the true definition of love. These people seem to think love is about just being nice, and that’s it. Well, if you are a Christian, love is about telling the truth, and spreading Jesus….not spreading our love…but the love of God through Jesus Christ by the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit! Our love is nice and all, but it is the love of Jesus we must claim as we act in love. We must let people know that there is only one way to heaven, and that is through Jesus Christ..Yeshua. To not tell someone and to just be nice is as good as hating that person, because God is going to ask us someday when we’re before Him, “Why didn’t you tell this person?” And we’re going to have to explain. We can utter that there is no condemnation verse all we want, but how many forget the one part of that verse? For those of us who are IN Christ Jesus. If we’re not telling people, and we’re just being nice, well, we’re not in Christ Jesus. And anyone who would deny that truth is a liar, because God’s word does not lie. We are called to be different. May those who truly belong to God at least acknowledge their shortcomings, and seek to change it….before it is too late. How many souls die everyday and spend eternity in hell because we did not do as we were all called to do? Myself included. Thank you for your comment sister. I love you, and God bless you.
Yes, we must dare to be Daniels in this world where being politically correct is shoved down our throats at every turn. We must stand up for truth! A very courageous post!
Keep the Faith!
So many are afraid to have faith in what is right.
Very good explanation of being “peculiar”. It seems as if this basic principle has been forgotten by many in today’s time. There are many “Christians” who fit right in wiht this world. They speak the same, they do the same things and make the same life decisions as the lost. Makes me stop and take a deep breath wondering what is going on! Thanks for a great posting!
Most certainly, even myself in times past. A long time ago I was driving and listening to my Chrsitian music and I would turn it way down, embarrassed. Now, I turn it up so all can hear the name of Jesus being sung! For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, praise the Lord!
There is no better a teacher than one who is transforming.
Amen sister!
I love the passion you have for the Truth Lyn because I too have that same passion. How difficult is can be to get brothers and sisters motivated! Too many think that they have to parade down the street proclaiming the Gospel or doing something outrageous for God. Well there is nothing wrong in doing those things of course and wouldn’t it be great if we all did? The weaker amongst our ranks are frightened by the thought of what may happen to them if they witness, they lack the strength which is their right in Christ. For so long I tried to get ‘bums off seats’ when doing outreach in the streets. A few dedicated brothers and sisters we were in a congregation of hundreds. It isn’t hard to witness for Christ. Even if we don’t go around screaming from the rooftops we can still be a witness by our lifestyles, there isn’t an excuse. It is hard to witness to the unsaved, it wasn’t meant to be easy but in God’s strength and by His Spirit anything is possible! It is far more difficult sometimes to awaken the hearts of sleeping Christians. Lovely post Lyn, forthright and to the point………we are all without excuse

Some people don’t know how to take my directness. I very much dislike beating around the bush with people. In fact, most people don’t have time to beat around the bush. I like people to be direct with me, I may worry I’ve hurt someone and over explain myself a tad at times, but I don’t get mad. I do truly appreciate the truth. Now, if someone comes on here trying to force a bunch of lies on me, deception, or something I just plain know is false doctrine, I will kindly tell them I disagree.
I don’t see anything wrong in what you said, Lyn. The people who read this and have a close relationship with the Lord will see it for what it is. Truth unvarnished. God will lead the people He wants to see it to read it. As for me…I’m proud of you, and your stand for our Lord.
My Sister after reading this I must say that you were truly mad as hell, and you took a stand, something that to many of our Christian brothers and sister refused to do. You spoke truth to power and for that God will truly bless you. May his grace and mercy rest and abide in you now and forever, in Jesus name, AMEN!
Yes sir, I sure was/am. Wishy washiness and ignorance of God’s truths angers me. It’s not about the mistakes we make as people, it’s about the ability to confess those mistakes and stand up for what is right. I cannot tell you Pastor how many lukewarm Christians I have come across here on the internet who believe they aren’t called to witness..that they’re just to be nice to everybody and not say a word. Yes, we are to be nice and loving….but we in being loving, we must speak truth. When our children do things wrong, the Bible says in Proverbs that to not correct our child(ren) is to hate them. In the same sense, we who are the children of God ought to build one another up, and tell each other the truth. If my sister or brother reverts and lives in disobedience, or gets sucked in by false doctrine, or whatever the case may be, and I just act nice but never say anything…even if I only pray…but never, ever say a word…then I am guilty. If I say something to my sister or brother and they reject me, then I shake the dust from my shoes, still love them, and still pray for them, but I am done saying something. I will then only live by example as I pray. But I’m finding people who are too comfortable not saying anything at all, believing God has to tell them to say something. He’s already told us! What we’re to pray about is when and what to say…we do that in faith by asking the Holy Spirit to direct us..we open our mouths and believe He will. Everything is falling apart, and God’s people don’t want to rise up from the sewage they soak in every day long enough to wash it off and pull out those who are still sinking up to their necks in it. So very sad. Thank you Pastor. I can always count on your for support, and for truth, whether I am right, or wrong in anything I ever speak. This is one of the reasons I trust you so much! God bless you!
Master Teacher? Is that a self proclaimed title? Or the title you were given at your church? I’ve never heard of it used before, except when speaking of Christ. Just curious. 🙂
I don’t call myself anything Rod. I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I call myself sister, daughter, servant, Lyn Leahz.
Lyn, I’m sorry. That comment was for one of the men who responded on your blog. His title says “Master Teacher” and it made me curious. Sorry for the confusion!
No problem. I saw this before I got the notification which said who it was in response to. Before the notification, it just said to me. 😉 Pastor Davis is a kind and patient guy, I’m sure he’ll get back with you soon on your question. God bless.
I am sure he is. I would expect no less from a Master Teacher. 🙂
Greeting My Friend, and I thank you for the great question. The title was be-stored upon me by my Church. Before I became an Ordained Minister, I had been an Ordained Deacon and I traveled around the country teaching in our associated churches. Once I became an Ordained Pastor the church be-stored the title upon me and it has been with me ever since, because teaching is what I do.
I have visited your site and indeed you are a Master Teacher. Plus you are not haughty.
Thank you My Friend, and may God Bless you greatly.
Pastor Davis is the kind of guy you could just cry on his shoulder anytime, anyplace, and tell him anything and you’d still have a friend…a friend who never judges, never breaks a promise…a true friend. If something is wrong, he’d drop everything to come and help you stand back up.
Never met anybody like him before…the fact that anyone exists like that brings tears to my eyes…a true minister of God! Not one of those ministers you can never get near because they’re too good for you on their pulpit…but the kind of minister who spreads himself thin in order to reach out to others.
That means a lot to me and God Bless you and your family.
Yes! Yesterday, our Sunday School teacher said, “If there was a glass of poison that looked like water sitting on the table and I saw you reaching for it should I say nothing? I should warn you of the contents, or your blood is on my hands!” Keep it! All needs to be said and it is said with love and concern!!
That is too funny. There’s an aritcle here somewhere, I forget which one it is…one from a few months ago..anyways, I used that same thing…the poison example. I think I had heard a preacher use that in something I was watching or listening to, and it made perfect sense!
I love this!! It was our Sunday School lesson yesterday!! I love the analogy about the rock candy…I remember eating that as a child and I can truly relate to the use of it in this way! Thanks for another great post, Lyn!
